Power Costs Are Too Damn High!

Pacific Gas and Electric proposed a 17.9% rate hike set to begin in January 2025. The people could not afford it. It was too much, they said. The advocacy group spoke for them, plainly. They knew the struggle of the everyday man. Bills were high. Money was scarce. And still, the rates climbed higher.

Families sat in their homes, counting coins, making choices between food and heat. The group spoke of fairness, of justice. They said the increase would add an average of $13.95 to monthly bills. It was too heavy a burden. The company listened, but the numbers told their own story. Costs had to be covered, profits maintained. PG&E cited rising operational expenses, wildfire mitigation costs, and infrastructure improvements.

The group noted that since 2020, rates had risen by 37%. It was a hard life, and the rate hike made it harder. The group would fight, but the struggle was old and familiar. In the end, it was always the people who paid the price.
